Immuron Limited is an Australian biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialisation of a novel class of specifically targeted polyclonal antibodies which they believe can address medical needs that have so far, not been met. The orally active polyclonal antibodies that Immuron’s technology produces, deliver within the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and don’t essentially cross into the bloodstream. Drugs that are currently in clinical development have the potential to alter the current treatment paradigms for moderate to severe Campylobacteriosis, Clostridiodes difficile infections, Enterontoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) infections and travelers’ diarrhea, a disorder within the digestive tract which is normally caused by pathogenic bacteria and the toxins they produce.
Currently Immuron markets the commercial products Travelan® and Protectyn® within Australia and both are listed medicines on the Australian Register for Therapeutic Goods. Travelan® (AUST L 106709) is an orally administered passive immunotherapeutic product which is available over-the-counter. Travelan® has been designed to reduce the risk of travelers’ diarrhea, reduce the risk of minor gastro-intestinal disorders and is antimicrobial. Protectyn® (AUST L 231001) is sold as an immune supplement to help maintain a healthy digestive function and liver. Protectyn® is currently sold in practitioners’ offices.
As well as in Australia, Travelan® is sold in Canada (NPN 80046016) registered as a natural health product designed to reduce the risk of travelers’ diarrhea as well as in the United States of America as a dietary supplement for digestive tract protection.
In 1994 the company was incorporated under the laws of Australia and was listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on April 30, 1999 trading under the symbol “IMC”.
